1957 Gang Killings

July 30, 1957 – One of the two most well-known gang killings from this era.  Two gangs from Harlem fight over Highbridge Park pool in the hot summer of 1957.  The Jesters,  a white gang and the Egyptian Kings/ Dragons who are a mixed gang, have skirmishes leading up to the stabbing and beating death of Michael Farmer and the assault of Roger McShane.  For more details on this see my page on the Farmer killing.

December 30, 1957 – Feliciano (Felix) Sanchez, aka “Superman” a member of the Viceroys stabbed and killed Robert Crossland in a grocery store on Park Avenue.  Crossland denied he was in a rival gang called the Enchanters.
