July 18, 1956 – Two Black girl gangs from the Navy Yard district of Brooklyn — the Diplomat Queens and the Chaplains get in a fight on the subway and Evelyn Orr, 12 years old dies in the fracas.\u00a0 This is the only girl gang homicide I have come across between 1955-1959.<\/p>\n
August 31, 1956 – Jose Santiago, 15 years old is stabbed to death by a gang called the Royal Counts.\u00a0 Santiago was a member of a gang called the Ellery Bops from the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Williamsburg.<\/p>\n
